Rarity would be an understatement when discussing a 964 3.3 Turbo S Leichtbau and subsequently this is a vehicle that we are delighted to have secured for the JZM showroom.
In 1992, Porsche announced an extraordinarily exclusive road car, blending the almighty performance of the Andial-tuned 964 Turbo S2, which had won the 1991 and 1992 IMSA Supercar Championship, and the lightweight 964 Carrera RS. The concept was a production 911 with the ultimate power-to-weight ratio. It would be called the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau.
While the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau was modelled on a North American legend, the car would never be sold in America. Built to be “particularly impressive in competition use” according to factory literature, the Turbo S took almost 10% off the weight of a standard car, with a 20% jump in performance: all for the princely sum of 295,000 Deutschmarks.
The actual build numbers for this model have been misquoted over time with official Porsche records concluding 80 Leichtbau’s were built initially. In fact there were an additional 6 vehicles.
This vehicle is chassis number 65 and one of only a handful of RHD ever produced and is presented with past MOT’s and service invoices within the history file.
All in all a very special and significant Air cooled 911 and highly collectable to say the least.
