Hi Tom – thanks for you mail – been planning to get back to you on a while.
Since having the kit fitted I did the following days:
• 2x days @ Silverstone,
• 1x Goodwood,
• And lastly, 1x Oulton Park.
The car has been brilliant – I had to change tyres after the Silverstone days – as the front left had heavy wear and I hadn’t rotated them at all this season until that point.
The front end is great – on the road there is no understeer even when pressing on, and on track.. there is only the slightest hit of it at the limit… but the general eagerness and faithfulness to tuck in and hold the line is fantastic.
Main thing is to properly manage the tyres pressures and get them set – once they are dialled in – the car is rock solid all day.
For one of my days at Silverstone, I had Tom Jackson from Porsche Carrera Cup with me in the car… he drove the car for a few laps as he showed me some tips… he was totally blown away by how nice the car was – better than the 991.1 RS he was co-instructing that day was his exact comment.
I was concerned about the change to the ARB – specifically the changing go the rear to Hard. I still have it in the position, and have learnt about how that really helps with turning the car in, with weight transfer. I did notice a bit more wiggle coming from the rear under very heavy breaking at Goodwood – that I didn’t recall before – but maybe I’m pushing a lot harder now or maybe need to look at rear toe settings again.
All that said – throughly recommend the kit and also the service and job you guys did @ JZM. I have a lot of confidence in the car now, making my much more comfortable to pushing the my own personal boundaries and tap into the potential of the car.
Look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.

Customer care on another level from the team at JZM Porsche today. Both Simon and Michele have turned around a monumental ask today even sourcing a part that even Porsche Germany couldn’t confirm a lead time on. Just shows that behind the most amazing stock sit really good people – sadly not that common a theme nowadays. As much of a cliche as it is it really does feel like a family business that wants to help you out. Also an additional thanks to Joe Magness at Porsche Tonbridge who deals with my weird and wonderful requests for parts at all hours. Once again showcasing service is the one thing that stands above all other experiences.

Just to let you know the short has made a significant difference to the GTS, why it’s not an approved mode I have no idea.? I realise manual Gen 1 GTS owners are thin on the ground, however if you have any future customers considering such a mod, in my opinion it’s well worth it..
Thanks again for your advice, hope you can retail the ‘spare’ gear shifter that you now have in stock.
One more thing … my car sits on the standard 10 mm lower GTS set up. There was an option from factory for a 20 mm set up… is this possible to retro mod on my current suspension ..?

Now done four good trackdays and I’m very please with the performance of the ST’s.
For a start, the pads are lasting far better because the whole system is running much cooler.
With PCCB’s I replaced pads when half worn … by which time the pad material was starting to crack quite badly.
With the ST’s, I’m told that the front pad material is down to 12mm and the rear to 10mm (from 18.1 and 17mm respectively new from Pagid).
Porsche say that the minimum pad depth is 3mm … but what would you recommend ??

The car feels more planted and more secure.
The steering has more feel in the dry and it loads up very nicely giving loads of information which is invaluable in fast corners such as Druids which can be very fast — but can also catch out the unwary.
In the wet, the car is harder to read — I guess because the tyre contact area is less — here maybe the new PS4s tyres will prove to be better than the super sports.
In the dry I found myself struggling to keep up with a very nicely sorted 996 GT3 Mk1 3.9 with similar suspension and running on slicks — what a surprise 🙂
Towards the end of the day when the track was dry and clear I timed a 1.57 on the chrono …. which is 4 seconds faster than a similar check made on PSC2’s at this track day last year … possibly in better conditions.
The lateral g forces did not increase during the day — although the maximum braking did increase to 1.44g — I think this is excellent on a cool circuit with ambient temperature of around 11C with MP Super Sports —
Having driven the car around my home roads today it feels sightly more firm and slightly more bouncy on a busy surface — it reminds me of a Peugeot 205GTI which had a similar job done on it by Skip Brown Cars …. but with less roll and on smooth roads and better steering feel …
I love it.
The parts arrived on Friday … can you remind me of the suspension components that we exchanged ?
I shall be interested to see what emerges on the forums — I gave a lot of passenger rides —

I’ll drop you a line later this week or early next to run you through how the GT4 performed on track.
All good, if not very good and camber mods dialled nearly all of the understeer out as well as very even tyre wear. Nice and balanced with nice and controlled drifts (small drifts in my case).
Gears far far too long 2-5th and think this is the biggest issue in punching out of corners. LSD seems fine to me although didn’t go nuts as 1st day on track in nearly a year. If anything like the 997 stock LSD I’m sure the friction plates will wear and get worse quite quickly.
Speak soon and all in all the car performed far better than I could have imagined.

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for the excellent service I have received at each and every visit to get my car serviced or repaired by your mechanics. The reception / service team always do an excellent job of fitting me in at short notice even when you are busy.
I recommend you to friends and people I meet who drive Porsches and insist they visit you, despite driving many miles past the main dealer who is close to my home in Hertfordshire. Your advice, prices and level of service is unbeatable and anyone local requiring work or help with their Porsche would be crazy to go elsewhere.
I rarely recommend service companies or suppliers but JZM is an exception, and a delight to use a trusted organisation who always make an effort to provide a high level of service. So thank you from me, unfortunately for you it means you will see my mug again in the future!
Keep up the great work.

Just dropping you a quick email to tell you we’re really pleased with the K410 upgrade on the car. The uplift in bhp (whatever it is) is almost incidental to the difference in the way the car feels and revs. It’s like a rabid dog straining on the leash! Great fun to drive at the recent Oulton Park event and hoping it will help us set further new PBs this season.
The only slight issue we have noticed is that it has become a bit difficult to keep idling when starting warm. Cold starts and hot starts ok, but if it’s cooled off a bit it won’t idle when started unless you help with a bit of extra throttle. It then seems to sort itself out after 30-60 seconds or so.
Hey Chele Just a quick word of thanks to you, Chris and the whole team at JZM for looking after the above over the last couple of days and being…

Now I’ve finally had the chance to open the taps a little thought I’d drop you a quick note to say how delighted I am with my new toy.
Its been under cover for the last 4 weeks but had a decent spin Surrey way where my folks live at the weekend – and was able to have some top down 2nd / 3rd gear amusement on a few twisty but open lanes. A couple of tunnels thrown in two; glorious. A PDK would have been a bad mistake, it can only be a manual! The south of France / Northern Spain trip is pencilled in for September.
And she doesn’t look out of place next to at the old man’s 911 50 as you can see.
Anyway – thank you for your knowledge and help with the whole process – it was a very enjoyable experience dealing with JZM and am over the moon with the outcome; its a beautiful vehicle.
Next in line will be a 911 GTS in a couple of years’ time when am going to need those back seats…
In the meantime let me know when am due a service etc, as very happy to have my ongoing stamps from JZM.
Hope you’ve had a good start to the year.
All the best

Hope you are all well. I would very much like to commend all the JZM team following my recent experience.
As mentioned, I purchased a Porsche Cayman S approximately seven months ago from a Porsche dealership and upon going for a test drive noticed a slight pulling on the car.
My thoughts were instantly relayed to the salesman who said that the car felt fine to him however in light of my feelings would be happy to have a wheel alignment/geometry test thrown in the deal. Because I lived in London very far away from this dealership, it was arranged to have the job done nearer to myself at another Porsche dealership and so the work was carried out.
The first thing I noticed was that the steering wheel was not centre and the car did not drive as it should. After several attempts it was my view that the car was still not right so I then took the car to another Porsche dealership and although the car felt a little better was still not right. Between both dealerships the balance of the car was incorrect and in addition had way too much understeer to the degree that I had no confidence when driving not to mention all the inconvenience.
Through a very good business friend of mine, I was introduced to a Porsche racing driver who kindly recommended JZM and told me that he was very happy with their past service and that I couldn’t go wrong.
By now I had my doubts and understandably so needed some reassurance as I no longer had any faith due to so many attempts to fix my beautiful near new car.
I decided that I would give it a shot and I’m so happy I did. Upon my visit I was greeted by the nicest staff I have ever met in all my years and was instantly offered a coffee and a seat. I was told that Ricky the technician would be with me shortly to have a chat. Ricky took the time and bent over backwards to accommodate my requests.
The geo was done and I was shown a print out of how badly the car had been wheel aligned in terms of toe and adjustments. This was endorsed on my test drive because the car had transformed into the car it was intended to be from factory. The steering was now perfectly straight and turn in was spot on providing me with bags of confidence. What a fantastic job this was and in my view at a reasonable cost.
I would also like to thank Steve the technical director who also took the time to explain things to me in great technical detail.
Your company is the real deal with both technical know-how whilst maintaining a professional approach and passion to please. I will definitely be returning for any maintenance required on the vehicle in the near future.
If every company was like yours life would be a whole lot less stressful.
One word only., fantastic.

Thanks for advice. Yes, JZM. Excellent buying experience, looked after well by Rob. Even the necessary, very rigorous (they know their cars and the market well), 3-way tag-team of Rob, Steve and Russ negotiating the p/ex was as painless as it could possibly be, given the circumstances! There are other firms – 911V and RPM with similarly good reputations, but none with the current selection of GT cars. Incredible stock list.
Looking underneath the car before I bought it (because I’m awkward like that) it does appear to have the underfloor rear ducts, like the 997.2 GT3 they had up on the ramps in the showroom. I’m guessing those are the ones you mean? I’ve seen various advice to switch off TC on track, to stop the rear brakes being cooked.
Alcon looks like a sensible, affordable choice. Surface Transform discs apparently work well, but there’s little to choose in price between those and OEM carbon. Have heard plenty about the diff, so will consider that, once the pressing issue of brakes is sorted.

Cliff & Liz Tibbels
For the Attention of Chele at Reception and Ricky from Service and everyone !
My wife Liz and I are totally delighted with our first 2 visits to JZM.
These will certainly not be our last.
After visiting the JZM website, we came to the show-room earlier this week.
The reception staff were friendly and knowledgeable and answered many questions on a number of small issues we have with our otherwise gorgeous Classic 997 C2.
One principal difficulty we had was in silencing an infuriating and illusive buzzing and rattling audible from inside the car that we had not been able to solve at Porsche Specialists elsewhere.
We made an appointment and revisited JZM again today. We made a test drive with Ricky who very quickly defined the problems to be solved … and his ideas as to how to solve them.
An hour in the comfortable waiting area and several cups of coffee later, Ricky explained to us everything he had done.
We learned a lot more about our car and its history from Ricky and my wife and I drove home with a transformed and now “rattle free” car.
The cost for the work was nominal. The relief is huge.
JZM Congratulations and Thank You !

I am writing to congratulate JZM Porsche for their products and good work.
I am pleased to say that I have collaborated with Simon from Purchase department on offering a great present to a very special friend of mine.
Simon offered me his support in buying a set of MANTHEY RACING MAGNESIUM WHEELS FOR 991 GT3 RS.
His professionalism and proficient skills made me confident to purchase this present for my beloved friend.
Simon was prompt and accurate with every step of the process and helped me to put a smile on my friends face.
Congratulations Simon and thank you, I have already recommended you to my all my friends.
As I have already mentioned to Simon, the wheels are a masterpiece.
I and my friend are really impressed with the end result.

Hi Michele, Chris, Russ, Ricky and Robert,
Just to say thank you for arranging the health check and rev check last Saturday on my Cayman I recently bought privately.
It was a relief to know the engine was ok, as Chris said the car has had an easy life from the Rev check.
My young son enjoyed looking at your collection of mint/ rare cars and sitting in the Porsche GT. He was carefully not to tread on the door seals as he knows what I am like even in my 2001 Passat !
Once I put on the new tyres I will bring it back for a suspension alignment check . I changed the oil over the weekend and took it out for my first real drive, Wow!
Hi Gents, just a quick line to say how pleased I am with the new motor, loving it. Great car, ready on time as promised, really easy deal too 😊…

Thank for the video link and oil info.
The ride home in the rain was uneventful once the motor warmed up and I got used to the light flywheel. Took the car out last night for about an hour and bonded properly on the back roads of Hertfordshire. I think it’s going to be hard to keep my mileage under the 2,000 per year that I told the insurance company – very addictive old school driving experience.
Thank you for your help with the purchase, you guys are great.

Having had to sell my beloved 964 Cabriolet on the birth of my son
some years ago, I was delighted on my retirement to be able to get
back into 911 motoring with a 996 C2 Tiptronic Cabriolet. Yes, I
know, not the most desirable in the current climate, but I love it.
Obviously there’s been the usual trials and tribulations, but it’s fair
to say that it’s been a pleasure to drive.
But enough of the history lesson. As well as the Porsche I also
bought a property in Spain for my retirement. Back in March I was
going to drive the 996 to the apartment and so filled up with fuel the
day before setting off. Suddenly, though, the voltmeter plummeted.
Now bearing in mind I had ferries booked in advance, the first
leaving at 11am the following day, it is fair to say that I was stressed
and my wife was in tears!
Luckily my local Porsche specialist is JZM in Kings Langley.
I limped in there and told them what had happened and our
predicament. The staff were so considerate with our situation. JZM
chief, Steve McHale dealt with me personally and was absolutely
amazing. He knew immediately it was an alternator fault, sourced
one for delivery within half an hour, and top mechanic, Mike
Etherington fitted it.
I was back on the road in three hours and home in Mallorca
within two days. Amazing staff and amazing service. A big thanks to
them all. I know I have been thoroughly spoilt by JZM and only wish
they would open a branch in Mallorca.

Just a short message of thanks to Chris Boys and his team, for his understanding and solving of my predicament a few days ago. The service and help I received was absolutely excellent.
Briefly, I have a 993 C2 which has been serviced and generally looked after by you for my 3 years of ownership, and last week I decided to sell her as I plan to upgrade hopefully to a 993 turbo. Anyway, I found a buyer very quickly, but within 24 hours of new ownership, unfortunately the clutch started slipping. Even though it was unpredictable, and could happen at any time, I felt really sorry for the new owner, and offered to help with getting it fixed and also contributing to the cost. Discovering that you were taking bookings for 2 weeks ahead, I explained my embarrassing predicament to Chris Boys hoping he could get it looked at perhaps a bit sooner, and to cut a long story short, the car was brought to you later that same day, and the clutch, flywheel etc., was replaced by the end of the following day, so that the new owner could enjoy his new car by the weekend.
So thanks again for your superb service, and also the diplomacy demonstrated when speaking to the new owner by Chris, and also Andy the mechanic who worked on her, it was much appreciated.

I had been having a problem with my 964 for a while. I’d taken it to a couple of engineers however after spending money my problem still persisted. I booked an appointment and duly arrived at JZM for a diagnostics test. Firstly I would like to thank Chris, services manager who made me feel most welcome he was attentive and reassuring. Secondly whilst I was waiting to find out what needed doing I spoke to a gentleman in the car park. He was most informative and really put me at ease. It was not until later I found out it was Jonas one of the Directors of the company. After a successful diagnostic the part was duly ordered for delivery that day. I arrived back at three for the work to be done. At this time a classic Porsche 917 had been parked in the showroom. I asked if I could take a photo the gentleman I asked agreed and then took the time to explain the history of the car in great depth again it was not until later I found out he was Steve the other director of the company. Not only had my car been repaired at very reasonable cost and efficiently, by god it drives so much better now, I find it quite rare these days to receive such excellent customer service and I would like to thank all at JZM wish them every success with their new sales showroom and look forward to them servicing my car in the future.

I haven’t had a car serviced by yourselves for over 10 years, much to my mistake, and I was blown away with the team and the technical feedback from Chris too. My car was at Lancaster Cambridge for quite a bit of work last year and Ii regret you not doing this to be frank!

Agree totally JZ are superb – I’d never take my GT3 anywhere else!
Steve & co. diagnosed and sorted out a major problem shortly after I bought my car – at the service and clutch/flywheel job when I bought it the dealer ‘forgot’ to fit the spigot bearing!!! OPC then failed to spot this when they inspected it! (idiots!) Only wish I’d got JZ to do the inspection and the work before I’d bought it. They’ve done a number of tweaks and upgrades inc K400, brakes, setup etc. – feels like a totally different car now!
JZ give me absolute confidence when they work on the car. They are honest, expert, and professional. Steve and his team are top flight, and I really like the way you can talk ABOUT the work to the people who actually DO the work. Service is always first class.”
“JZM lowered a Boxster for me a few years ago using Roock Racing stuff as they were the UK agent but other than that no other contact, before I even bought my GT3 Steve spent best part of an hour on the phone with me telling me its life story knowing full well that I may not even buy the car and lived very close to Parr for servicing if I did.
Well I did buy the car, and have had several lengthy calls to Steve regarding suspension set up and I have to say time was never an issue and if it was Steve always called me back. It is so rare to actually get good service these days that I endured? The M25 slog round to the M1 and had them service the car for me and reset the Geometry, car is now perfect and as said previously anyone who knows any thing about GT3 servicing will know there are only about 3 places to take the cars anyway.
Steve many thanks, I have sent my friend up with his Turbo for lowering, and know he will get the same superb level of service as you gave me. Well done.

Hi I would just like to thank the person that kindly gave me technical help yesterday unfortunately I didn’t get his name but his advice was spot on. The problem lay with the Dual action micro switch it closed the first contact to operate the roof but not the second to operate the windows. I am mystified as to how the fault occurred as there seems to be no adjustment on the switch or latch I had to space up the switch to operate the switch.

Just a short line to say many thanks for fitting my new wheels to my car, may I say that your staff their were very accommodating, quick and professional. Please pass on my thanks to the fitters as well, as I felt that they took more care then other garages do in checking correct air pressure and tightness on wheel nuts. Its been 8 years since my last Porsche was serviced by you and I believe my new one will be looked after/serviced with the same professionalism as I have just experienced. Thanks again hope to meet up next time.

Just a couple of quick things – had my first trackday on Saturday and the car performed fantastically. Wanted to send my thanks to you, Steve and the rest of your team for doing such a great job on the overhaul and associated repairs. There wasn’t a squeak, a rattle, smoke or any other funnies even when I was chasing GT3s down the back straight – during the whole day it didn’t even burn any oil. There were quite a few surprised faces that a 13 year old car had such moves – so in turn thank you for your excellent work.

Dear Steve McHale and Michele,
I am quick to criticise, so it takes better than expected service for me to notice. We had an un-diagnosed issue with our lovely 964 this morning when she failed to start. The car had been serviced by JZM in September by Ricky and we subsequently bought a set of lovely Fuchs rims from you. At every moment the JZM team was exceptionally good to us and gave us the quick and honest responses we sought. You offered us advice and gave us suggestions. You helped us and all of that was great. You stepped way beyond that this morning. We called and immediately go through to Steve who gave us a potential diagnosis. You gave us the number of a recovery truck who arrived well within their estimated timescale and carefully loaded the 964 to take to JZM. We got a call from Michele to say that you had taken delivery of our car and that it was in line for inspection tomorrow morning, possibly maybe even today. That is wonderful – thank you

This is a note to all at JZ to thank you very much for the outstanding service provided over the last 2 years in which you have maintained my 996.
I have never before come across such high standards of customer service, expert/proactive advice and helpfulness. Your workmanship and standards are higher than that of any main dealer I have used yet the labour rates are considerably less and I was always left feeling confident in the advice given based on the thoroughness of your diagnosis and explanations, rather than concerned that I may be being misled, which is always a concern for non mechanically minded people like myself.
Unfortunately I am having to sell the car due to increased business mileage but I will continue to highly recommend JZ to everyone I know who has a Porsche or is thinking of buying one. If I am lucky enough to own one again in the future, there is no question of where it will be maintained.
Best wishes and thanks again.
