Porsche 964 Turbo S Leichtbau with 59 miles (SOLD)

In 1992, Porsche announced a extraordinarily exclusive road car, blending the almighty performance of the Andial-tuned 964 Turbo S2, which had won the 1991 and 1992 IMSA Supercar Championship, and the lightweight 964 Carrera RS. The concept was a production 911 with the ultimate power-to-weight ratio. It would be called the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau.

While the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau was modelled on a North American legend, the car would never be sold in America. Built to be “particularly impressive in competition use” according to factory literature, the Turbo S took almost 10% off the weight of a standard car, with a 20% jump in performance: all for the princely sum of 295,000 Deutschmarks.

Every aspect of the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau confirms the Special Wishes bespoke vehicle philosophy, from a hand-built blueprinted engine with unique camshafts and intake, to the specially tuned suspension, lightweight glass, plastic doors and luggage cover and hand-stitched, leather-trimmed dash knobs and switches.

With Porsche now owned by cost-conscious Volkswagen, and the Special Wishes department just a shadow of its former self, we will never again see the like of the 964 Turbo S Leichtbau. These incredibly rare cars come to market once in a very blue moon. Our beautiful Porsche 964 Turbo S Leichtbau for sale (NOW SOLD) is one of the uber-rare RHD models, supplied with just 59 kilometres from new. Do not miss this chance to buy a piece of Porsche history.
